The biggest contribution we can make to help mobilize the women of the world is to support each other every day.
Women characteristically have less self-esteem and confidence in their ability to succeed than men. We are not as bold in sharing our ideas, or forthright in asking for what we want or need. We do more, get rewarded less, and consider ourselves less intelligent and less capable overall. This is even more pronounced in underdeveloped countries.
We can counter this mentality simply by sharing our success stories and encouraging each other towards boldness. We can empower women and girls just starting out on their path by reinforcing their strengths. We can recognize, nurture and commend their talents and teach them to be confident in their abilities. We can give each other a voice.
Education and literacy empower women to take on bigger roles and close the gender gap. Mentorship and support builds self-esteem and creates future leaders.
